New favorite products

I had some time to dedicate this holiday weekend to crafting a bit and I have really discovered two products that I had that I just LOVE!  The first is the 1×1″ My Acrylix block (#1000).  This little block is perfect for small stamps or letters (for one at a time of course).  It is so perfect in size to control the stamp.  I did some lettering and since I have only one of each letter I”d have to leave the space or do bits and pieces.  This little block was just perfect to line up to put the letter down!

The second product really surprised me.  I’m a tape runner kind of girl.  I use the big ol 3M tape gun and I use it for pretty much everything.  Other than liquid glass for more 3d needs you don’t often find me with a glue pen of any kind.  I just don’t like them.  They dry out, they are sticky, they get all over my fingers and they just never seem to adhere the way I want.  NOT any more!  The Bonding Memories Borad Tip Glue Pen #1512) has converted me!  I used it all day today for my projects (some of which are gifts and won’t get posted until given :) ).  This thing was so easy to use and it’s not sticking to my fingers, or pooling all over.  It’s a big fat tip that goes on smooth to the paper and then the bugger STICKS!

Thought I’d share these finds!  Check out what you have in your stash – you never know what you will suddenly love!!!

Off topic for a cooking pause….Cheesesteak appetizers!

I don’t actually cook, but my wonderful hubby does.  A few years ago he made up a recipe for a Cheesesteak casserole which is a hit for parties.  This weekend, he decided to ‘plus’ it and make them into smaller appetizers.  Now you may notice I didn’t say Philly Cheesesteak but that’s just because I’m from the Philly area and we don’t need to specify here :)

The meat is cheesesteak meat in a frozen package from the supermarket (it’s not a steakum – a thinly sliced beef steak instead).  You may be able to get this also fresh or ask the butcher.   Chopped up and fried with onions and peppers in a pan. The cheese is cheese ends from the supermarket – they sell these in a package all mixed up – the best are those with different kinds of cheeses in them.  Chop those up or grate into a bowl.

The two wrappers he used were empanada wraps and wonton wraps.  I preferred the wonton but they were both amazing.

Put a spoon full of meat mixture into the wrap and mix in cheese shreds.  Deep fry until just brown and cheese will melt in with the meat for a delicious appetizer that is sure to be a huge hit in or outside of Philly!

Christmas Block

I have been trying to find a better picture of these but haven’t, so I’m going to post the blurryish one for now.  This is the gift I made for this past Christmas for teachers and such.  They were a huge hit and easy to make.   I used vinyl that I ordered online and the Cricut of course.  The glass blocks were from AC Moore – these particular blocks were discontinued but they have another brand now.  Put a string of 50 lights in the block and some ribbon and adornments and voila!
